The library offers different opportunities for teens to volunteer!
The time commitment and training varies with each position. Do you need to complete volunteer hours for school or an outside club? Would you like to gain valuable skills to prepare yourself for your first job? Maybe you just think libraries are the best (we won’t argue with you!) and want to spend time at your favorite place. If you are age 11-17 we have volunteer opportunities for you! There are three different ways to volunteer:
Volunteer Service Project:
Check our calendar to find this monthly volunteer opportunity where we will serve an outside organization. This program normally last three hours – please come prepared to stay the entire time (bring a snack, arrange a ride, etc.). You do not need to register for this program or sign any volunteer paperwork. Just find us in the Teen Hangout for fun!
Teen Library Assistant:
This volunteer position requires a regular, ongoing commitment for a minimum of three months. The library relies on our volunteers to commit to a set schedule. A typical shift is two hours once a week. You will assist our librarians with special projects, learn new skills by shelving materials, help set-up and facilitate exciting programs, and so much more! We will sign paperwork, write a letter or recommendation, become a reference, and print a certificate of hours volunteered upon request.
Please print, fill out, and sign the form below and drop it off in the Teen Hangout. If you are age 16+ you will need to complete a background check through the City of Loveland. We do accept a limited number of court ordered teen volunteers.
Due to high interest we are unable to accept all volunteer applications. If accepted, we will contact you to move to the next step.
Summer Reading Teen Volunteer:
During summer, you can volunteer to help families sign-up for our Summer Reading Program, help them log points, and hand out exciting prizes at our volunteer table located in the children’s department. You can sign-up for your own shifts using an online scheduling software and volunteer for one two-hour shift per day. You must attend the Summer Reading Volunteer Orientation and Training on Tuesday, May 28 before volunteering.
