Many writers enjoy the challenge of using all or some of an “unexpected” set of words in a poem. Here’s is one set: refuse, striped, shadow, skin, somewhere, water, geometry, apple, inch, green, cat, interrupt.

- Prompt 1: Secrets: Where was or is your secret place.
- Prompt 2: Describe sounds you hear now at night or heard at night in a house you grew up in. Were they comforting or disturbing? Were they city sounds, country sounds, neighborhood sounds—or were they inside the house?
