Waggin' Tales: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 4-5 pm; Saturdays 1-2 pm (There will be a slight change on the Saturday schedules in the summer.) Join us to practice reading with a therapy dog! Come to the Children’s desk to sign up during or up to 30 minutes before the program. Sessions are around 15 minutes each and available on a first come, first served basis. This program is great for beginning readers, but all ages are welcome. All dogs and handlers are licensed by Alliance of Therapy Dogs or Therapy Dogs International. Every Tuesday 3-4 pm during the summer Drop in to play with some of our technology in the Children's Department every Tuesday, including three special edition sessions on June 18, June 25 and July 16 where you can earn your tech badge for the summer Reading Program.
Wednesdays from 1 - 2 pm Trained volunteers are available to play the reading game, Zirkel. This fun experience encourages reading strategies for even the most reluctant reader!
Wednesdays 4:30-5:30 pm. Children ages 6 - 11 years can learn to play or practice their game skills with experienced instructors.
Thursdays 4-5 pm during the summer Kids going into 1st-5th grades can be dropped off for an hour of fun. Themes vary weekly, including arts, technology, science, literature, crafts, and special guest presentations. . Parents are encouraged to bring younger children to Family Storytime at 4:15. Thursday 4 - 5 pm June 6 July 25 Explore the stories of summer constellations with a NASA ambassador, then create your own star wheel and learn to use it! Family Storytime and Club 345 attendees will be joining these special programs.
