About Our Friends


Friends of the Loveland Public Library Foundation is dedicated to supporting the Loveland Public Library and promoting literacy in the greater Loveland, Colorado area. Their Capital Campaign Committee raised $2 million towards the recent renovation and expansion of the library building.

This project provided improvements such as:

  • 27,000 additional square feet of space
  • Additional meeting rooms
  • A dedicated teen area
  • A genealogy and local history center
  • A business center
  • A dedicated computer classroom
  • More than quadruple the number of public computers

Library Activities funded by the Friends include:

  • Summer Reading Programs for children and teens
  • The Traveling Storyteller in the Park
  • The Gaming Room in the teenseen
  • Noontime Nature with Kevin Cook

Library Services funded by the Friends include:

  • eBooks, audio books, and downloadable music
  • Instruction in the iLearn technology classroom
  • Expanded large print collection
  • Priscilla's Book Shelf Book Group Kits

Donate Books

Friends of the Loveland Public Library Foundation accepts donations of books and media at:

Open Tuesdays 9:00 – 11:00 and Wednesdays, 9:00-4:00. There is a donation book drop available all the time.

Donate Money

To make a monetary donation to the library, please contact the Library Director at 970-962-2404, or donate online through the Friends of the Library website.

Volunteer

Volunteers are absolutely necessary to carry out the work of the Friends. With no paid staff, so we rely exclusively on our members to perform the services necessary for our success in supporting the Loveland Public Library. Opportunities vary according to how much time the volunteer can give, and range from a few hours per year to several hours per week. Book Sorters

Sort donated books on a weekly basis between book sales
Attendance at a book sorter training session is required prior to joining the book sorting team

Book Sale Staff

Twice a year – set-up book sale, staff the sale, post-sale clean up

Events/Programs

Loveland Loves to Read, Loveland Lights, Murder Mystery Night, Book Fairs and Christmas package wrapping at Loveland’s Barnes and Noble
Annual Meeting, Volunteer/Donor Recognition Event, Holiday Brunch for Library staff
Serve on planning committees
Prepare and serve food, beverages, snacks for events
Assist with set-up, conduct, and clean-up of events

Public Relations

Assist in bi-monthly preparation of newsletter
Assist with development of printed and electronic PR materials
Assist with displays and bulletin boards
Serve on committee

Fund-Raising

Help generate fund-raising ideas
Develop fund-raising materials, plan campaigns
Serve on committee

Administration

Board of Directors – at least 3 persons are elected each year to the Board
Terms of office are for 3 years
Nominating Committee identifies and interviews prospective candidates

These positions are longer-term positions which become available when the incumbent resigns. Deputies and assistants are always welcome.
Database Managers – Membership; Volunteers; Financial Secretary
Webmaster – maintains the FOLPL webpage with current information
Facebook Manager – maintains Facebook page with current information
Committee Members – Finance, Fund-Raising

Maintain file of clippings relating to the Friends
